Globalization is making it possible for most nations of the earth to compete on a level playing field. Thomas Friedman informs Americans that they have no choice but to meet the globalization challenge. China, India and other developing nations are leading the globalization challenge to America.
Computers & Software. Computers and computer software have played a major role in advancing globalization. With globalization comes outsourcing, which Friedman states is not necessarily bad. (Other economists have a much different opinion on outsourcing!)
Globalization and the United States. Friedman says that, with globalization, almost anyone's work that is presently performed in the United States can be performed cheaper, somewhere in the world!
Friedman offers a few suggestions to make America more competitive in the intense world economy we now find ourselves in. The major Friedman suggestion is the obvious: improve American education
According to Freedman, globalization does not mean that all is lost for America. It does mean that changes in the American way are coming. Friedman is just giving Americans a wakeup call!
